I’m Oli, a photographer originally from the Lake District in the north of England, now based in Germany.
My work focuses on people — on expression, presence, and the quieter moments that feel honest rather than performative. Portraiture, for me, is less about construction and more about attention.
I began photographing in the mid-90s and, over time, that interest developed alongside a professional career that demanded visual clarity and consistency. After moving to Germany in 2017, I co-founded The Haut Company with my wife, where I was responsible for creating studio photography and video content used across branding, marketing, and e-commerce.
That experience sharpened my approach to portrait work.
Today, I work with individuals to create portraits that feel grounded and considered. Collaboration is central to the process — not as a concept, but as a practical way of achieving images that reflect the person being photographed, rather than a predefined idea.

The Studio
Schwelm, NRW · Private portrait studio
I’ve been working from my studio in Schwelm for the past three years. It’s a private, fully equipped space designed for portrait sessions, with a range of backgrounds, lighting setups and equipment that allows me to adapt the look of a shoot to different clients and briefs.
The studio is best suited to individual portraits and small groups. For larger groups, the adjoining kitchen and waiting area provides additional space, with a large table and seating for anyone waiting between sessions. There is also a separate changing area and bathroom.
The studio is easy to reach from the A1 and is approximately 45 minutes from both Düsseldorf and Cologne. Private parking is available directly for clients and guests.
